With a busy fall touring schedule and football season in full swing, Scotty McCreery’s schedule is a delicate balance between music and sports.

While the 29-year-old sports nut and Country music artist typically has no problem checking scores from stage instead of watching the action from his couch, he does admit there are a few game days he refuses to schedule shows on.

“Every single year, there are some games that are like, my college plays our rival team and my [music] team knows just not to book a show around that time,” Scotty told KFRG’s Kelli and Guy. “Because I’m gonna be home that weekend.”

Aside from the big rivals, McCreery says he is fine to miss games on TV, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t checking scored from stage. “Lord knows, we’ve been known to have a phone on stage or something if a big game is on,” McCreery laughed. “If you see me checkin’ something back by the drum riser, that might be what’s goin’ on.”

If he isn’t in the stands or checking scores from stage, Scotty says he’s watching the game from the couch with his nearly one-year-old son, Avery.

“It’s a little more chaotic,” he said of adding little Avery to the game day mix. “You’re not just on the couch watching the game anymore — you’ll sit down for ten seconds and  he’s going to pull something off a counter here or crawling over there so the game time watching is a lot less, but it’s so much fun.”
