Actress Piper Perabo (Summer Higgins) recently told Entertainment Weekly she and Kevin Costner (John Dutton) are "turning up the heat" between their characters, who currently have an unlikely romance.
"The love story is kicking into gear on Yellowstone,” said Perabo. “I know a lot of people watch it for the cowboys and the ranch, but I watch it for the love story. We're turning up the heat. It's been a hard couple of years, let's turn up the heat for a minute."
Perabo, who plays animal rights activist, Summer Higgins, joined the show in season 4 which featured her character getting into trouble with the law for her extreme actions defending animals. Higgins and Dutton found an unlikely romance when he bailed her out of jail.
Perabo’s character hit the ground running in the Yellowstone action, requiring her to dive in head-first as an actress.
"It was also a little intimidating," Perabo shared of her action-packed intro to the series. "My first day with Kevin... he's a real movie star, and so when you do a scene with somebody like that, you have this whole history of film that you see… He's such a good actor, and he's directed so many films that you get down to the work really quickly, because he's so calm and steady."
The excitement will continue as a fifth season has been confirmed. Said to be starting production in May 2022, the new season is promised to feature other favorites including Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) and more.
