“Soo basically my first single 1:59 will be coming out 4/26,” Normani posted on X, appropriately at exactly 1:59 PM ET on Saturday, March 23.
Reportedly set to feature a verse from Gunna, though none of Normani's announcements mention it, the singer also shared a snippet of the track on IG, which seems to be the same track Normani teased us with back in February when she dropped the album news.
“1:59” will not only be the first single from Dopamine, but it It also mark her first new music release, features included, in nearly two years.
Since embarking on her solo career in 2018, Normani has released only seven singles as a lead artist, with 2019’s “Motivation” and 2022’s “Fair” being the only songs she’s released without another artist on it. As for songs with features, there’s 2021's "Wild Side” with Cardi B, and "Waves" with 6LACK. And on the list of songs she’s featured, there’s “Dancing With a Stranger” with Sam Smith, and “Love Lies” with Khalid.
But now, nearly six years after initially sharing in a now-viral tweet, “I have my album title y’all,” a post that has often resurfaced over the years as more and more time passed without any follow up, Normani is actually ready to drop said album, but like for real this time, and its very first single is just one month away.
