Could the delayed MLB season be over before it even begins? It's a strong possibility.
The novel coronavirus has caused many industries to come to a screeching halt but the hardest hit by far are live events like concerts and sporting events.
If 2020 was a normal year the MLB season would be in full swing by now and my beloved Baltimore Orioles would more than likely be getting ready to lead me into another year of heartbreak (but I'm a loyal fan nonetheless!) Buuuut, COVID-19 had other plans and the season's start has been delayed. When the season does start, players will be in a stadium with empty seats.
However, Major League Baseball's delayed season might be further delayed after the Philadelphia Phillies announced that they were closing their spring training facilities after five players tested positive for COVID-19. According to an Associated Press source who wanted to remain anonymous, ALL MLB teams will be closing their spring training facilities for a deep cleaning and disinfecting. Additionally once the facilities reopen, only those with negative COVID-19 tests will be permitted to enter.
Players have also said the Major League Baseball told them they would play no more than 60 games this season (if it happens).
