Drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. was interviewed on the Sarah Hagan Backstage podcast and gave fans a sneak peek at their upcoming record that’s due out this August.
“Well, weirdly enough, we had this stockpile of songs that were sort of orphans off of the last record, but we’re saving those for the next record,” he said.
The Killers normally take their time between records, but that’s not this case with this upcoming album. Vannucci Jr. said the new album is “very different from the normal Killers stuff.
“We instead made another record, which is a bit of a concept record and very different from the normal Killers stuff. So we still have that stockpile [of songs] left, and we’re still writing more. It’s always good to have a few songs, or an album, even lying around, just in case.”
The Killers have long been teasing the follow up to Imploding the Mirage as Vanucci Jr. recently took to Instagram to tease a short audio clip of a new song.
Based on his recent comments and this audio clip, yeah, The Killers new album is going to be something you’re going to want to hear.
