What do Spider-Man and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump have in common? Well, not much, except that Patrick “created all the music” for the upcoming Disney Junior series Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends.

And don’t let the Junior in the channel name fool ya. Yeah, the show might be targeted towards a significantly younger audience, but for Stump, a long time Marvel fan, he knows that with great power comes great responsibility, sharing that “composing and writing all of the music for the series has been incredible because I am such a big Spidey fan.”

For the theme song, Patrick said he tried to capture the “frenetic energy” that Spider-Man has when he swings around. Adding that even when a song was for all intents and purposes complete, “you couldn't pull me away from the studio after I recorded it because I just wanted to add more stuff,” due to the excitement.

For example, as well as a true testament to his dedication, Stump learned to play the trombone, French horn and trumpet specifically because he thought it would be a fun addition to help elevate the sounds to the show’s music and assign each character a unique sound.

“The really fun ones for me were Green Goblin -- I was thinking about this troll, polka-kinda feel because he's scary but also weird. He's a very strange villain," Stump says. "My favorites one hands-down was Black Panther. I had to do the talking drum, I just had to reference it. It just feels like Black Panther. It's incredible: I get to write music for all these characters that I've been attached to since I was a little kid.”

As for his own kids, the FOB lead vocalist admitted to feeling like he’s finally getting the "cool dad" stamp for this one. "My kids are so excited, and I definitely think this is the coolest I'm ever gonna be with them," he said, adding: "It's a dream come true, and hopefully you can hear that in the music.”

Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends is the first full-length Marvel series for preschoolers and is set to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney Junior Friday, Aug. 6, at 9 a.m. ET. Check out a behind the scene look at the show's music creation here, and a preview of the animated series below.
