DK's rescue dog of the week is Scruffy from Dogma Animal Rescue in Sebastapool!
Scruffy is currently our longest resident and he needs some help finding his perfect home. When Scruffy first arrived this past summer, he had two broken front legs. He received the medical care he needed and his legs have healed up nicely. Scruffy is a young boy, only around one and a half years old. He is sweet and affectionate. He loves his foster family, other dogs, and taking walks. He is an all around great little dog. He has one problem though...when he first meets people he is timid and shy. Scruffy will just cower in his crate and shake. Now, give him some time and he'll be your best friend, however, most people looking for a pet assume this is his normal personality. I promise you it's not. If someone gave Scruffy a few days to settle in and warm up they would discover what a wonderful little guy he is. Scruffy is a remarkably resilient, happy, eager dog. He just needs to find the right person. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, wormed, treated for fleas and ticks, and has had a Heartworm test.
ADDITIONALLY....Regarding the floods. Dogma Animal Rescue is located within Animal Kingdom Veterinary Hospital in Sebastopol. All of our equipment and marketing supplies were stored in the basement. When the floods arrived we thought we would have time to empty the basement, but by the time he changed and returned it was completely flooded. We ended up losing everything except for our wire crates, hard shell crates, and a couple of canopies. Everything else was contaminated and unusable. There have been many fundraising efforts to support the rescue, most through Facebook. We are currently accepting donations through our GoFundMe campaign. We are also responding to the floods by providing a pet food bank in Guerneville for residents affected by the floods. So far we've given out over a ton of dog and cat food to animals in need.
