Richmond's Hilltop Mall closed its doors on Thursday after 45 years. The property was sold to a San Francisco-based logistics company called Prologis that intends to turn the area into a mixed-use development of retail, residential, and "modern logistical facilities".

The 78-acre site featured a Macy's, Sears, JC Penney & much more including an ice skating rink and other popular spots over the years.

We are excited to make this investment in the community and are deeply committed to working with the City of Richmond and residents to promote the revitalization of the Hilltop area.” Said Prologis in a statement on the acquisition.
