Gas prices across the U.S. are down an average of 30 cents from this time in 2020 and while that's good news for most of the country, things aren't so great in San Francisco where gas prices are currently the highest in the nation at an average of $3.40 per gallon of regular unleaded.
That's more than a $1 higher than the national average of $2.35/gallon according to Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey. Despite millions of Californians still working from home as the majority of the state is under a stay-at-home order gas prices are still rising due to a tighter oil supply. So that lower demand is outweighed by the price of crude oil getting more expensive.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana is where you can find the nation's cheapest average gas prices at $1.90/gallon.
