Rumblings are beginning to be felt of Pearl Jam's impending follow-up to 2020's Gigaton, as the beloved Seattle group unveils their first single of 2024, "Dark Matter," today, February 13.
Frontman Eddie Vedder had revealed back in 2022 that the band's next offering would be helmed by super-producer Andrew Watt, known for his GRAMMY-winning work with Ozzy Osbourne, The Rolling Stones, Justin Bieber, Elton John, and tons of others, including, as it turns out, Vedder himself on his 2022 solo offering, Earthling.
Eddie's initial tease was followed by guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament's personal takes on the recording process -- and lastly, guitarist Mike McCready's admittance that the forthcoming record would be "a lot heavier" than fans would expect.
On Friday, February 9, the band's teases got serious when they shared a 25-second clip on social media highlighting fan tweets about the possibility of new music on the horizon, followed again by a solid date on February 12 alerting fans to an upcoming Midnight release.
The song has since been revealed as the title track to the band's upcoming 12th studio album, set to arrive on April 19. You can pre-order your copy here.
Plus, Pearl Jam has announced that they will be hitting the road on their Dark Matter World Tour 2024 beginning in May, hitting 9 countries and 25 cities. Tickets will be available in 2 ways: A Ten Club members-only presale held through Ticketmaster Request for eligible members. Only paid Ten Club members active as of Monday, February 12 are eligible.
Also, those registered for a chance to participate in the Dark Matter World Tour 2024 registration sale at shops.ticketmasterpartners.com/pearl-jam by Sunday, February 18 at 11:59 PM local time for Europe, UK, Australia and New Zealand shows and by Sunday, February 18 at 11:59 pm PT for North America shows.
