As first responders work to contain the explosive Caldor Fire, these are a few ways you can help the people and animals that have been affected by the devastation.
Donate to the Caldor Fire Fund set up by the El Dorado Community Foundation. All donations go directly to victims impacted by the fire, and you can donate here.
Donate to the American Red Cross of Northern California. They have three shelters up and running right now for Caldor Fire victims; because evacuations are causing roads to be congested, they ask for monetary donations in lieu of physical donations. You can donate to them here.
Donate money to the El Dorado County Animal Shelter, which is temporarily housing animals displaced by the fire. Money donated goes directly towards supplies for these animals that were forced to evacuate with their families and temporarily stay at the shelter. Donate to that fund here. When prompted to specify the cause they'd like to donate to, input your request as "Caldor Fire animal relief."
Donate to United Way of Northern California, which has additional information about various ways those impacted need assistance. Donate here.
Airbnb offers free, temporary housing to people that are displaced due to wildfires and other disasters. If you're a host wanting to offer a free stay or would like to make a donation, click here.
GoFundMe set up a page to help those affected by Northern California wildfires, including the Caldor Fire. Donate to GoFundMe here.
Donate to the Salvation Army, which provides food and emotional care to those impacted by a disaster such as the Caldor Fire. Donate here.
