Holiday-themed trains are magical no matter where they are or where they take you. There are several holiday train rides in Northern California, and this is just one of them that perhaps you haven't thought of going on.
The Train of Lights takes guests on a magical holiday excursion through Niles Canyon (in Fremont, about two hours southwest of Sacramento in the Bay Area) at night while they enjoy refreshments and music along the way.
Tickets range from $30 to $60 depending on the car and section you'd like to sit in. You can even rent a private caboose for $650!
My personal favorite experiences on this train include sitting in the First Class Dome so I can see lights AND the stars above! Also, the First Class Parlor looks incredibly fancy.
