DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) -- Jerry Jones is not expected to extend the contract of Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett as he enters the final year of his current deal, according to ESPN.

Garrett will enter the lame-duck season with a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore (the former QB coach) and quarterbacks coach in Jon Kitna. The Cowboys made the coaching changes official on Thursday.

That followed Jones' surprise call-in to the "Ben and Skin Show" on Wednesday during which he teased the announcement and said the delay had nothing to do with Garrett's future with the team. Jones said Garrett isn't on "shaky ground."

"We've made several committments, and the reason it's not being talked about isn't because Jason is on shaky ground or isn't on solid ground," Jones said. "We're putting together different ideas and we don't want it to be a featured topic around the Super Bowl.

"The facts are, we think a lot of Kellen. ... The facts are, he's really going to contribute his fresh ideas."

Jones also brushed off wide reciever Cole Beasley's recent critical comments of his number of targets being suppressed by the Cowboys' front office.

"I love him and that's Cole," Jones said. "I love Cole and love what he's about. I do appreciate him for not only that, but as a weapon to help us win football games."

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott joined that chorus Thursday.

“It’s probably a little bit of frustration, but it is what it is,” Prescott said on "The DA Show" on CBS Sports Radio. “I’ve always said this: I’d much rather (have) a receiver who gripes about not getting the ball than a guy who’s not going to you saying, ‘Hey, I’m open.’ I want guys on my team that want the ball, that think they’re open, that are running to win each and every time – and Cole is just one of those guys. He wants just as many touches and just as many targets as Zeke and Amari and those guys get.”
