DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) -- After a couple days filled with rumors about whom the Dallas Cowboys would pick as their next offensive coordinator, owner Jerry Jones provided some clarity Tuesday.
Jones, speaking at at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., said former quarterback Jon Kitna has committed to joining the coaching staff, though his role has yet to be determined, according to the team's website.
Jones also said no decisions have been made regarding the open offensive coordinator position and the Cowboys are in the "throes of evaluation." Scott Linehan was fired as offensive coordinator last week after five years in the role.
When asked about the potential of a coach being hired outside the organization to fill the OC vacancy under head coach Jason Garrett, Jones said, "I like the guys we've got in house."
On Sunday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Cowboys would bring on Kitna as quarterback coach and would possibly promote current QB coach Kellen Moore to offensive coordinator.
