BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey didn’t say much about the team’s search for their next head coach Wednesday morning and he doesn’t plan to until the final decision is made.

With one exception: Interim coach Gregg Williams will receive an interview.

“I think he deserves it,” Dorsey said.

The Browns are coming off their third win of the season – and first under Williams – after manhandling the Atlanta Falcons, 28-16, on Sunday.

Dorsey praised the work that Williams has done the last two weeks keeping the team focused, engaged and more disciplined since the firings of head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley on Oct. 29.

“I think Gregg Williams has done a really nice job,” Dorsey said while also acknowledging offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens and Williams’ son and linebackers coach, Blake. “I think Freddie has done a heck of a job and let’s see what happens as we continue to play six more games of football with regards with Freddie, but I think Freddie has done a heck of a job.”

Dorsey, who admitted he’s told himself every day since coming to Cleveland last December “don’t mess this up,” will not seek the assistance of a search firm.

“We don’t need that,” Dorsey said.

The Browns are in search of their ninth full-time head coach in the expansion era – and fourth under the Haslams’ ownership, which officially commenced midway through the 2012 season.

“This is a very attractive job,” Dorsey said.

Dorsey declined to say who will be involved in the search and final decision, referring to the group as “senior Browns management.” But he plans to keep the inner circle “tight” and vowed, “I’m not going to say much.”
