On Sunday, the NFL Network’s Jane Slater talked on The Fan's Cowboys pregame show with Ari Temkin and Bryan Broaddus about the disappointment of this Dallas Cowboys season and says there has been “friction” among coaches and a “coaching disconnect.”
"I can confirm this, there has been some friction among some of the coaches" said Slater on the Cowboys pregame show.

“I think it’s a combination of players got really high on themselves … I’m not going to go ahead — they have a game to play — so I’m not trying to create any drama but I can confirm there has been a coaching disconnect among some of the coaches.”
The Cowboys entered Sunday’s Week 17 game against the Washington Redskins at 7-8 and needing an Eagles loss to the Giants in addition to a win of their own to win the NFC East. Dallas had blew its chance at securing the division with a Week 16 loss to the Eagles.
After jumping out to a strong 3-0 start to the season, the Cowboys have been mired in mediocrity and inconsistency, raising concerns about head coach Jason Garrett’s future with the team.
Garrett’s contract expires at the conclusion of the season and it is realistic that the Cowboys will part ways with the head coach. Reports of a disconnect between coaches on the staff only further the expectation that changes are indeed coming, one way or another.
There have been prior reports that the Cowboys have been showing interest in potential replacements for Garrett, such as former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. However, most of Jerry Jones’ public comments about Garrett have been complimentary, although that does not necessarily mean Garrett’s job is safe.
