Hurricane Laura has caused significant flooding in Frenier Landing in St. John Parish, leading to the closing of an area restaurant and oyster bar.
A photo shared by WWL TV reporter Paul Murphy shows the water-flooded road near the establishment.
"This is the western shore of Lake Pontchartrain at Frenier Landing in St. John Parish," Murphy captioned the photo. "East wind and storm surge from #Laura pushing water in and on to Peavine Road."
The restaurant announced that it will be closed until further noticed due to weather on its social media page.
"Frenier Landing will be closed today due to coastal flooding on Peavine Rd. Expected to be increasingly deep as the wind picks up!" the restaurant wrote."
The establishment went on to say that it hopes to reopen to the public by this weekend, "weather permitting."
On Tuesday, mandatory evacuation orders went into effect across southeast Louisiana in Calcasieu Parish, Cameron Parish, Lafourche Parish, Grand Isle and Plaquemines Parish.
Voluntary evacuation orders were also issued in Jefferson Parish and New Orleans.
