WASHINGTON (The Fan D.C.) -- Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall ruptured his Achilles tendon while recovering from season-ending heel surgery and is expected to miss an additional 12 months, the team announced Tuesday.
Wall suffered the injury when he slipped and fell in his home, the Wizards said.
Wall, 28, had developed an infection in the incision from his initial heel surgery on Jan. 8. That surgery was a debridement and repair of a Haglund's deformity and chronic Achilles tendon injury in his left heel, and ended Wall's season with an expected recovery time of six to eight months.
Wall was diagnosed with a ruptured left Achilles during a procedure by the Wizards team orthopedist to clean out the infection.
He has yet to undergo surgery for the ruptured Achilles.
Wall, a five-time All-Star, has averaged 19.0 points and 9.2 assists per game in nine NBA seasons.
