Cyndi Lauper's 'Just Want to Have Fun' surpasses 1 billion views on YouTube

Released in 1983 and uploaded to YouTube in October 2009, Cyndi Lauper's music video for "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" is now the fifth 1980's song to join the 1 billion view club on YouTube.

In celebration of the news, Cyndi shared her gratitude via Instagram.

"I just want to thank everybody, because I can't believe it. Girls Just Want to Have fun, 1 billion views. But hey, we do all want to have fun, so it ought a be heard!"

The feminist anthem of Lauper's debut album "She's So Unusual" is the artist's first track to receive this accomplishment, joining the following 80's hits that are part of the '1 billion views' milestone.
