MEASURING TIPS

  1. Measure ponytails 14+ inches to have the most impact on a child in need.
  2. Pull curly hair straight for a more accurate measurement.
  3. Start the measuring tape at the start of the ponytail.
  4. Stop measuring where the ponytail starts to thin due to layers or split ends.

Kathy's Story & More On Wigs For Kids

In 2008, Kathy Romano decided she wanted a shorter hair style, but she also wanted someone else to benefit from her hair. And so it began — she enlisted the help of stylist Joe Kaub, owner of Gravity Hair Salon in Ambler, PA to cut her hair live on air. Her generosity inspired others to join her, and this was the beginning of an annual Cut-A-Thon benefiting Wigs For Kids.

Wigs For Kids was founded in 1981, and is a private, non-profit organization. They receive no government funding for their operations and rely solely on support from generous companies, groups, and individuals.

Wigs For Kids never charges for their hair replacement systems. The process for creating these hairpieces takes time, and the cost of producing each human hair wig runs in excess of $2,600.Thanks in large part to generous donors, Wigs For Kids is able to offer hairpieces free of charge to eligible recipients because they believe all kids deserve the ability to look themselves and live their lives. Wigs For Kids has changed the lives of children affected by medical issues causing hair loss by giving them back self-esteem and hope.

Testimonies From Wigs For Kids Recipients

Children shouldn’t have to worry about how they look, especially when dealing with a health crisis. Hair loss in children can drastically undermine a child’s self image and sabotage their self esteem. An investment in a custom wig can be a crushing financial blow to many families already struggling with medical bills. Help us make a difference.

Join us in-person, or listen live to The Kathy Romano Show on August 28th as we support Wigs For Kids.
