Barrett jokes, “I was very bad at math, I’m not good with math,” when asked about keeping track of all nine categories that she is a finalist in. However, that isn’t stopping the “I Hope” singer from being overcome by joy tonight.

In categories with artists like The WeekndHarry StylesCardi B, and more Barrett says that joining the ranks with these major players makes her “feel like they got the wrong person… I’m kinda like ‘are you sure you put me in there with them?’” She adds, “It’s crazy! I’m just very shocked because those are all names that I grew up listening to and looking at didn’t even think that they were real people.”

Gabby also makes it clear that she is so excited, it’s difficult to verbalize. As a Country singer, most of the events Barrett has attended are aimed at the “Country community.” This is the first time she’ll be at a prestigious music event that is “all genre.”

Both professionally and personally Gabby says, “the past few years have been a rollercoaster that I definitely was not expecting.” “Ever since writing ‘I Hope’ and then that being my first single that went number one, and then the pandemic hitting, and me being pregnant, and then my second single ‘The Good Ones’ went number one… it’s just been crazy, but in the best way.”
