76ers fans will be pleased to hear Ben Simmons' return to the NBA court did not go as planned.
Simmons scored just four points, shooting 2-3 from the field and 0-2 from the line, while fouling out and playing just 23 minutes in a 130-108 Nets blowout loss to the Pelicans.
After the game, Simmons told the media, "I think I was too excited, honestly."
Simmons added five assists and five rebounds, as well, but although it is only one game it does seem clear that his offensive role will be drastically diminished on a team with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
Irving and Durant were asked about Simmons' poor Nets debut as well.
