DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott may have thrown his 10th and 11th interceptions of the season in Sunday's 40-34 overtime loss to the Jaguars, but if you watched the two plays, you'd see that Prescott wasn't at fault for at least one and likely both interceptions.
Prescott had a QBR of 71.9 on Sunday, much higher than his season average of 54.8. He threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to the two picks.
Despite the performance, Prescott was under heavy scrutiny after the game, which saw the Jaguars erase a 17-point second-half deficit to beat Dallas on Sunday. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't think the criticism his quarterback is receiving is warranted.
"Outstanding," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan when asked to give an assessment of how Prescott played Sunday. "We can win with him playing like that. I thought he played outstanding. As we see, he wasn’t playing against chopped liver out there. I thought he did really well. I thought he made good decisions. Overall, if he’ll play like that we can win most games.”
The only interception that is up for debate is the first one that Prescott threw, which came in the third quarter on a pass that sailed over tight end Dalton Schultz and into the arms of Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins.
If you watch closely, you'll see Prescott's right throwing shoulder get grabbed right as he releases the ball.
As for the second interception that ended the game... Do we really need to debate this one?
And, if you're still not convinced that Prescott wasn't at fault for the interception. ... Noah Brown, the receiver who was targeted on the play, took ownership for dropping the ball after the game.
