The Birds officially announced Thursday afternoon that they have hired former Temple defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot as their new LB coach. He replaces Nick Rallis, who joined Jonathan Gannon’s staff in Arizona as defensive coordinator.

Eliot, 46, started his coaching career in 1999 as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Wyoming, and has had 11 stops in his 20-plus-year career. He worked exclusively with linebackers in his stops at Texas State, Tulsa, Kentucky, and Colorado, and was the defensive coordinator at the latter two as well.

He was the defensive coordinator at Kansas in 2019-20, and took a year off before joining Stan Drayton’s staff at Temple as DC and outside linebackers coach.

Rallis, 29, was the Eagles’ linebackers coach for two seasons under Nick Sirianni and Gannon, and became the youngest coordinator in the league when he left for Arizona.
