DeCamara worried Hurts will hold back Eagles, a team ready to win Super Bowl
Joe DeCamara is worried Jalen Hurts could hold the Eagles back from winning a Super Bowl.
"There's a lot more positive than negative last night," DeCamara admitted to begin today's 94WIP Morning Show, hour after the Eagles defeated the Commanders 26-18 at the Linc. "You've got a legimitate shot to compete for the one seed in the NFC.
"I think the vast majority of the Eagles' team is ready to win the Super Bowl, like what I'd call Super Bowl worthy. The vast majority of the team. And here's I'd define that—running back, wide receivers, tight end, offensive line, defense—which prior to last night I might not have said that, but that was extremely impressive last night.
"I do think you can win a Super Bowl with this defense and there's a chance a defense like this can lead you to a Super Bowl. And I also would put coaching into the majority positive ledger.
"Then you get to Jalen and you know the reality is he is just, to a large degree, struggling. He did again last night...He is either going to lead them to a Super Bowl, option two they are going to win a Super Bowl dragging him across the finish line...or option three is that—and this what I really, really, really hope doesn't happen—that Jalen Hurts holds back a team where so many parts of it are ready to go win the Super Bowl."
Jalen Hurts completed 18 of 28 passes for 221 yards and rushed for 39 more yards and his 11th rushing touchdown of the season in the win. He, once again, did not commit a turnover. He has thrown just one interception since Week 3.
The Eagles' offense, however, struggled to produce in the red zone and often stalled last night until Saquon Barkley took over rushing for 146 yards on 26 carries including two touchdowns. He also caught two balls for 52 yards through the air.
Barkley already has 1,137 rushing yards and 210 receiving yards through 10 games and many believe he has been the Eagles' most valuable player this season.
