His message:

"Thank you Philadelphia, to the organization and especially to the fans for the support for 4 years, you will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for living with me the dream of being in a postseason and reaching a world series. God bless you.”

He also thanked the Marlins “for the opportunity” and finished with “Let's go to the mambo."

Segura, 32, was acquired from the Mariners in 2019 for J.P.
Crawford and Carlos Santana and hit .281 with 43 homers, 176 RBI, and 228 runs in 427 games as a Phillie. He was just as fruitful in the field, serving as a bit of a utility player and ranking second defensively in both 2019 (as a shortstop) and 2021 (as a second baseman) via FanGraphs metrics.

Segura is likely to be the Marlins’ third baseman next season – they have Miguel Rojas and Jazz Chisholm entrenched up the middle – and he will make a quick return to Philly: the Marlins come to town for a three-game set April 10-12.
