Spike Eskin on Embiid's late scratch vs. Nuggets: 'It's embarrassing'

Joel Embiid is taking heat for being a late scratch for Saturday's prime time national televised game against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

New 94WIP Afternoon Show co-host and host of the popular Sixers Rights To Ricky Sanchez podcast Spike Eskin admitted it was "embarrassing."

"I want the whole organization to stop making me feel like embarrassed for defending him, I guess," Eskin said on Tuesday's 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie. "It's one of these things where I would certainly allow for the possibility of his knee, which has been a problem for the last three weeks, to prevent him from playing. That seems completely reasonable to me. What doesn't seem reasonable is for him to miss several games with this knee injury, for him to re-injure the knee against the Pacers and then not be on the injury report and be a surprise scratch twenty minutes prior.

And I suppose you can say, 'Well how does that affect me, him not being on the injury report?' It's embarrassing. The entire thing is just so silly and I just wish they would act like adults. If he has an injured knee, put him on the injured list whether he tells you to or not."

Embiid, who is having a career-year averaging a ridiculous 36.0 points per game, has missed 12 games already this season. A NBA rule requires all players to play at least 65 games to be eligible for awards, including Most Valuable Player.
