ESP on Eagles' rookies Mitchell, DeJean: 'Impressed with them as people'

Eliot Shorr-Parks talked about the impressiveness of Eagles' rookie defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean as not just players, but people.

"Quinyon and Cooper are very impressive people. Like I've covered a lot of rookies in my time covering the team. The level of confidence they've brought, I think, to that locker room and that secondary room I don't think can be overstated. Neither of them are very loud, they're not like a Darius Slay type of personality. But just being around them, the football IQ that they have and just the quiet confidence. I've seen a lot of rookies come to this locker room and to this city in particular and struggle with the pressure...I've been very impressed with them as people and then on the field they've played great as well."

Mitchell, the Eagles' 22nd overall pick, has six passes defended in his first seven NFL games allowing opposing receivers to catch just 19 of 37 balls when targeted for 237 yards. Opposing quarterbacks have just a 71.6 rating when targeting Mitchell, who has dropped multiple interceptions this season as well.

DeJean, the Eagles' 40th overall pick, got off to a slow start after dealing with an injury during training camp, but has come along of late making two straight starts and big, impactful plays. DeJean has 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and a QB hit playing 70-plus percent of his defensive snaps in each of his last three games.

DeJean made a huge fourth-down tackle of on Ja'Marr Chase in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
