The new Philadelphia Flyers' front office, behind the leadership of general manager Danny Briere and president Keith Jones, are getting after it today, trading defenseman Ivan Provorov, the team announced on Tuesday.
The Flyers traded Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a three-team deal with the Los Angeles Kings, where Philadelphia gets back defenseman Sean Walker and goalie Cal Petersen, plus this year's No. 22 overall pick, a future second-round pick, and prospect Helge Grans.
The Kings will retain 30-percent of Provorov's salary. Provorov, 26, will enter 2023 in year five of a six-year, $40.5 million deal which has a $6.75M cap hit.
The Flyers are also reportedly working on a deal to move goalie Carter Hart.
When asked about trading Hart on 94WIP on May 27th, Briere said this.
"I would say most likely Carter is going to be our goalie of the future," Briere told Glen Macnow and Mike Sielski on their Saturday 94WIP radio show. "Now, I'm not in a position to turn down anything. If there's teams calling about him, we have to listen. That's my job as a general manager, I have to listen. I have to do what is best for the team and the organization. In saying that, I expect Carter Hart to be our goalie for many years to come."
