Joe Giglio is calling out Bryce Harper, who has been struggling since the All-Star break.
"Bryce Harper has not been good," Giglio said to begin Wednesday's 94WIP Midday Show about 12 hours after the Phillies' 3-1 loss in Atlanta. "Let me make it clear not great, he hasn't been good since the All-Star break. His OPS since the break is .651...[Nick] Castellanos early in the season territory. Last 30 games he's hitting .214.
"They give Bryce Harper the day off Sunday," Giglio continued. "Last night he goes out there 0-4, three strikeouts. They need Bryce Harper to wake up otherwise don't make plans for Wildcard weekend because the Phillies are going to be playing in that first weekend."
Harper is hitting just .204 with three home runs over his last 23 games. In 28 games since the break, Harper is slashing .209/.260/.391 with five home runs, 12 RBI, 28 strikeouts, and eight walks.
For the season, Harper is still slashing .278/.370/.533 with 26 home runs, 73 RBI, and a .902 OPS.
The Phillies are 11-18 since the break, tied for the worst second half record in the National League.
