Giglio: 'Unlike last year, Phillies look like a World Series Championship team'

Sure, it's early, but Joe Giglio believes this year's Phillies team looks more poised than last year's team to win the World Series.

"It's only one game, 12 more to go," Giglio said on Wednesday's 94WIP Midday Show. "Last night they looked like a World Series Championship team. They got to go do it now, they've got a long way to go. But last year it always felt like they weren't really that great, they just were getting there. They looked last night like a team that I could see having a parade here in a month.

"There's a difference with this team...The Phillies don't carry themselves like underdogs anymore and they play with a confidence, Hugh, last night, they know they're the better team, they played like the better. They came up clutch in big moments and got big hits. It wasn't perfect and they didn't hit any home runs last night...They had offense the whole night. They could have score six or seven runs last night, they left guys on base."

While every position player in the starting lineup had a hit, Phillies ace Zack Wheeler once again dialed up another excellent postseason start, going 6.2 innings and allowing just one earned run.

"Zack Wheeler, this guy is incredible," Giglio said. "I think he is baseball's most underrated pitcher. He's a true ace, yet he never really gets talked about with Gerrit Cole, Verlander, Scherzer, Strider. This guy is just as good as those other guys."
