Seltzer would sign Nola to projected 5-year, $110 million extension 'in a second'

Would you give Aaron Nola a five-year, $110 million contract extension if you were Dave Dombrowski and the Philadelphia Phillies?

That is the contract mentioned by ESPN Insider Kiley McDaniel, who ranked Nola as the MLB's 5th best free-agent heading into the 2024 offseason.

"I'm a yes," Joe DeCamara said on Tuesday's 94WIP Morning Show. "And I know he's trending backwards, but these numbers are lower than I would have expected, significantly."

"In a second!" James Seltzer agreed. "And I'm as annoyed at Aaron Nola as anybody, but five years, 110 is a steal."

94WIP's Ike Reese agreed on X.

Nola, 30, is in his 9th MLB season, all with the Phillies and has consistently been an innings eater and successful starting pitcher over his career.

This season, with a new pitch clock in effect, Nola has struggled a bit. He is 9-8 with a 4.58 ERA, higher than his 3.71 career ERA and has already allowed 26 home runs, second most in MLB.
