Jalen Reagor, who carries the unenviable distinction of being drafted directly before Vikings Pro Bowler Justin Jefferson in 2020, may not be long for Philadelphia. The TCU product was already on shaky ground coming off a frustrating sophomore campaign that saw him fall behind Quez Watkins in the Eagles’ pecking order. Following Thursday’s acquisition of A.J. Brown, Reagor finds himself in a fight to keep his roster spot, reduced to afterthought status in a suddenly well-stocked receiving corps headlined by Brown, Heisman Trophy winner De’Vonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert.

Seeing the writing on the wall, Reagor appears to have scrubbed his social media, deleting all posts from both his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Reagor wants out of Philadelphia, nuking his social media as a silent protest in the wake of his latest demotion. While some would argue it’s too early to throw in the towel on a player just two years removed from being a first-round pick, Reagor has done little to distinguish himself throughout his short time in Philadelphia, averaging an anemic 9.1 yards per reception last season with just two touchdowns in 17 games. Reagor’s season-high in receiving yards—57—came against a Washington squad running on fumes, down almost 20 players due to COVID.
The Eagles seem likely to trade Reagor in the coming weeks, though it’s doubtful they’d get much for him after his postseason debacle in January, committing two fumbles (both coming on muffed punts) in a loss to Tampa Bay. Increasingly influenced by social media, more and more athletes are taking to Twitter and Instagram to voice their displeasure, sending passive-aggressive messages to teams by deleting or unfollowing them. Maybe the embattled receiver just needed to vent, but with Brown in the fold, it’s hard to see where Reagor fits anymore.
