WIP Morning Show turned its attention to football on Friday with the calendar turning to August, and despite how painful last season ended for Eagles fans, Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie both agree that their excitement levels are rising for the upcoming season.
“No 11-6 season ever felt worse…no playoff season ever felt worse at the end,” Joe said. “Offseason, there were some exciting elements, like Saquon, but the way it ended lingered, the Jalen stuff in the offseason lingered.
“I am more excited today than I expected to be even a month ago.”
For Ritchie, his excitement is in spite of the head coach, as he still doesn’t believe in Nick Sirianni, but the players and coaches around him are more than promising enough to where the Eagles could still have a special season.
“Seems like a great guy,” Ritchie said of Sirianni. “I want to love him, but I don’t love him, because he doesn’t bring enough to the table as a head coach. I want one of the 32 brightest football minds in the world to be our head coach, and I don’t think we have that in Nick Sirianni.
“So I’m guilty of doubting our head coach, but I think there’s a structure here. Kellen Moore brought a real offense to town. We have a real, one of the best backs, in Saquon, in the NFL, which is such a world of difference to me in terms of how the offense runs effectively. This thing is gonna be smooth because we have a guy we can just hand it off to, and Jalen can take a couple plays off.”
