The Philadelphia Union lost the MLS Cup in the most painful way imaginable, falling to LAFC in penalty kicks after allowing the equalizing goal in stoppage time on Saturday.
The Union had their chances, taking the lead late, but couldn't put home a single shootout goal.
After the match, and even before the shootout began, soccer fans took the opportunity to make it clear that the idea of a shootout being the deciding factor in what was arguably the greatest MLS game ever was a cruel fate.
Safe to say many fans don't like the shootout format at all:
Soccer games should never end in shootouts. If you're going to win that way, there's no point in putting in all the effort to play 90 minutes. #Union #PhiladelphiaUnion #MLSCup
