Tracy McGrady says he would not trade James Harden if he were running the Philadelphia 76ers.
The former NBA star was asked by 94WIP's Jon Marks if he would honor Harden's trade request or force him to come back to the team.
"Ummm...that's tough, man," McGrady told Marks & Ike Reese on Wednesday's 94WIP Afternoon Show. "I think he compliments Joel very, very, very well and I think those two running pick and roll is just really unstoppable. I got to run it back. There's no way I'm trading him. He's too good of a playmaker and he's too good of a complimentary player to Joel Embiid.
"He's a big reason why Joel Embiid won the MVP. Joel Embiid is great, but if you look at how easy James Harden made the game for him in running that pick and roll and getting him easy baskets, and shooting that elbow jumper—that was really a problem for teams. I think you've got to add another scoring guard that can relieve that pressure of James having to score and carry the load when the game is on the line because I just don't think that ability of him doing what he did in Houston is there anymore, because he is older."
Harden reportedly is doing everything in his power to get traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and recently removed the 76ers' affiliation from his social media bios.
Harden, who turns 34 on August 26th, opted into his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season in hopes of being traded.
