American Music Awards announce official 2021 nominees list - Voting is now open

The American Music Awards have officially unveiled their huge list of nominees for the 2021 awards ceremony -- and voting for each and every one of the categories is now open.

This year's awards show will be broadcast on Sunday, November 21 at 8PM ET on ABC, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Some notable mentions this year include Olivia Rodrigo who makes her AMAs debut with seven nominations, including Artist of the Year and New Artist of The Year, placing the SOUR singer atop the top-nominees list, two ahead of 5-time AMA winner The Weeknd who earned six nominations -- including Artist of the Year. Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, and Giveon follow close behind with 5 nominations each. Doja Cat, 2020’s New Artist of the Year, is also up for trophies in the Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album categories, among others.

Artist of the Year will without a doubt be the one to watch as Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, the current record-holder for most wins in this category with six wins, and record holder for most AMA wins of all time at 32, will all be vying for the prize.

Three new categories have been added this year: Favorite Trending Song, Favorite Gospel Artist, and Favorite Latin Duo or Group, bringing the total amount of Latin categories to five – each dominated by Bad Bunny, some twice.

In the Country realm, Morgan Wallen, who was nominated for two awards, will not be involved with the show, according to a statement from the production company behind the show which reads in part, "Morgan Wallen is a nominee this year based on charting. As his conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity… We plan to evaluate his progress in doing meaningful work as an ally to the Black community and will consider his participation in future shows."
