Fans know they can always count on singer-songwriter Christina Perri for an in-your-feels song. While she’s the first one to poke fun at herself for lacking up-tempo songs, she also admits she wouldn’t have things any other way.

The 36-year-old recently joined the And The Writer Is...with Ross Golan podcast to talk about the pride she takes in her music and the vulnerability she shows fans through it.
From heavy drinking and drug use in her earlier years to struggling to stay sober and navigating the devastating loss of two pregnancies, Christina has a lot to unpack and she’s turned to music for it all. “I walked into every single writing session exactly the human being I am being with you right now,” Perri said of her early days as an artist in writing rooms. “I was never lacking in conversation or s*** I’m going through or vulnerability or honesty.”
She continued, “I want to think now — it was probably refreshing to the writers that I would come in like, ‘Well, my heart’s broken and I hate this guy and this happened last night and two night ago this guy said this, let’s f***ing go!’”
While her struggles have changed since her early days as an artist, Perri says her approach to music is still the same as she keeps honesty and vulnerability a top priority.
Most recently, Perri released, songs for rosie, a project in honor of her daughter on what would have been her first birthday.
