According to the official website event description, the effort aims to offer "hope and help by organizing city beautification projects, back-to-school events, free medical clinics, homeless assistance, and aid distribution.” By “mobilizing 20,000 volunteers across Southern California from July 18-24, culminating in The Freedom Experience at the brand new SoFi Stadium on July 24.”
The event will hosted by Jason Kennedy, with additional guest appearances from Christian singer/songwriters Chandler Moore and Kari Jobe. Volunteers willing to do a minimum of three hours of service can sign up for the event here; a $29 registration fee supports 1DayLA's efforts and includes an official 1DayLA T-shirt.
Additionally, as announced by 1DayLA, an exclusive “The Freedom Experience VIP Seating & Event Pass Giveaway” offer will be available to LA area radio and media outlets. Special passes will be provided to media partners on a case-by-case basis and all local Los Angeles area broadcast outlets are open to participate.
“1DayLA and The Freedom Experience live concert event showcase the power and beauty of a city coming together,” said Dominic Russo of 1DayLA. “In the wake of a sustained season of crisis and isolation, people desperately need authentic expressions of hope, help, and love. This will be an unforgettable opportunity to celebrate and dynamically impact communities across Los Angeles.”
Elsewhere in the statement it explains that Bieber was inspired to join the 1DayLA movement "because of his strong and long-held belief that giving of ourselves in service to others is one of the most important things we can do. Bieber is committed to the powerful idea that a movement for change can start with individuals helping one another and their community.”
The release went on to say that 1DayLA will invest "tens of thousands" of service hours in hundreds of L.A. County blocks with the help of the more than 10,000 individuals and 600+ organizations that have already committed to participate and take on the 2021 Southern California “7 Initiatives,” which include:
