LL Cool J announces new single 'Saturday Night Special' and plans for album

It’s been a hot minute since LL Cool J has released an album, 11 years to be exact (since 2013’s Authentic). That being said, LL has just shared his plans to cool off this drought, announcing the impending drop of a brand new single, as well as an album later this year.

Starting things off with his single, LL took to social to announce “Saturday Night Special,” is set to arrive on June 14. “In case you missed it, new single ‘Saturday Night Special,'” he said in the clip, “It’s coming June 14. Go to the link in the bio. Sign up to the pre-save it. Ya know what I mean?”

And of course, that wasn't all. LL kept the surprises coming, promising that his long-awaited next “album’s coming in the fall.”

“It’s the real deal, baby. It’s go time," the rapper expressed. “’Saturday Night Special’ is the first single. I’ll let you know about the features. Couple of days … Hit the link in the bio, you’ll be able to find out a little sooner. Track listing for the album is coming. Album will be out in the fall. Yo, it’s on, baby.”

A few days after his announcement, LL posted to his freshly cleansed IG feed, sharing a teaser of what seems to be the single’s black and white music video. For the caption of the very quick clip, Cool J kept things short and simple, writing, “SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL. Coming 6/14 link in bio.”
