“An assertive and empowering pop anthem celebrating Kesha’s unapologetic right to freedom and long overdue empowerment as an independent artist,” according to the track’s official press release. “JOYRIDE” marks the beginning of Kesha’s new era, while also sticking to that classic KE-dollar sign-UH vibes we know and love.
“A powerful sonic evolution following 2023’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album, Gag Order.” “JOYRIDE,” co-written by Madison Love, Kesha and Zhone, who also co-produced, is the singer’s chosen track to celebrate her independence. After a long, troubled relationship with producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, and his label Kemosabe.
“Don’t even try to give me s*** / I’ve earned the right to be like this,” Kesha sings over the flashy beat. “Joy ride, joy ride / I’m just looking for a good time tonight.”
Ahead of officially dropping “JOYRIDE” and it’s accompanying lyric video, last weekend Kesha debuted the track during a surprise live performance at NY’s sold-out Planet Pride 2024.
Additionally on her schedule of live performances, Kesha will continue to light up crowds throughout the summer with a number of headlining dates and festival performances including a sold-out “House of Kesha” show at Chicago, IL’s House of Blues on July 31, followed by a set at Lollapalooza on August 1. Then she’s off to Mexico City, MX’s for Festival HERA HSBC on August 24, and that’s just the beginning with additional dates promised to be announced soon.
