Lil Nas X has been alluding to the arrival of his new era for a little while now. For his latest tease, Nas took to Twitter, oh our bad, X, to share that he “wrote AND directed [his] own music video for the first time,” which he’s “excited for y’all to see.”

Calling it “the best one yet!,” Nas concluded the post with a church, white heart and dove emojis, which if you’ve been paying attention to Lil Nas as of late, then you know it's on trend and completely checks with what’s possibly to come from the Country bopper, turned mainstream Pop star.

“Y’all mind if I enter my Christian era?” Nas recently asked in an X post on November 29, alongside a clip of him singing along to a never before heard track.

The Internet, of course, had comments and opinions about the massive 180 from his previous vibes and how his new musical direction would relate to his private life. Nas, of course, clapped back with a quickness saying, “Making Christian music does not mean I can’t suck d*** no more,” he clarified to his followers. “The two are not mutually exclusive. I am allowed to get on my knees for multiple reasons.”

Nas went on about how not everything he does is a “gimmick,” and how he’s “just an artist expressing myself in different ways,” continuing to give major tude, and rightfully so, about a few more things.

With this next project, whatever it is, and whenever it arrives, one thing's for certain — it will be different. And it’s quite obvious Lil Nas has no plans of remaining in the same lane, EVER, when it comes to moving from one album to the next.

Ahead of posing the question about a Christian era, while at the world premiere of his new documentary Long Live Montero at the Toronto Film Festival this September, Nas answered a few fan questions during a Q&A. When asked about the potential style and sound of the new music, Nas said, “Hear me out… I want to do some folk music. What else do I want to do? Like, Brazilian funk.”

Well, whether we get folk music, Brazilian funk, Christian music, or something else, it’s definitely time for a new era from Lil Nas X. So we’ll just be here, waiting for the music video to drop.
