    Lauren Barry

Lauren Barry is a Chicago-based news content producer for Audacy’s central news team. She is the host/co-producer of The On Deadline Podcast, as well as the co-producer of Something Offbeat and The Homestretch.

Before she came to Audacy, Lauren graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English from Northeastern Illinois University. At the university, she was a writer for The Independent student newspaper and a DJ for the school’s radio station.

Lauren went on to work as a general assignment reporter for the Journal & Topics Media Group for more than six years. There, she reported on everything from City Council meetings to violent crime. While at the Journal & Topics, she earned several Illinois Press Association awards, including honors for government beat reporting, crime reporting and an interview with a “Chicago 7” prosecutor.

In addition to news reporting, Lauren’s literary analysis has been featured in PopMatters Magazine.

If she’s not writing, you can probably find her reading or eating sushi.
