John Osterlind couldn't shut up about the food from the new Swamp Room in Metairie, especially the Pigs in a Blanket.

The original Swamp Room was in business for 40 years until it closed May 29th of 2019. Osterlind used to go there often before it closed. He wasn't aware that it had re-opened in Metairie until he was invited to go out to eat with a few of his friends. As always, when Osterlind eats out at a place he really enjoys, he will not shut up about it until every one in his ear shot goes and tries the place out as well. He even mentioned how good the food was at The Swamp Room on the air twice, and it was then that I knew I had to try it out for myself.

Although Osterlind's main focus was the food, I was more impressed by the full bar, the big screen TV's, and the pool tables. Even if you're not hungry, The Swamp Room seems like a nice place to hang out just to enjoy a few drinks with friends over a game of billiards, or a place to gather to watch any big game.
The Swamp Room had a reptilian decor thing going, which was cool. A lot of green tint and alligator print leather seats.

It was time to order and another thing that excited me was that The Swamp Room has what I call a "Men's Menu"!! The options include steak filet's, burgers, hot sausage sandwiches, buffalo chicken wings, and easy-to- eat sides like steak fries and mini corndogs. I ordered the double patty hot sausage sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, a pickle spear, and added bacon and chili on it. It was the first time I ever had chili on a hot sausage sandwhich. I didn't even know it was an option until I ate at The Swamp Room.

Osterlind had a giant cheese burger and some kind of Buffalo Balls, or something.

Anyway, the one thing I always hate about going out to eat with Osterlind is the drive back home. As soon as I eat a big meal, I want to immediately fall alseep. Even our waitress noticed me gettign drousy and said, "Looks like you need to take a nap." The Swamp Room gave us A LOT of food for a reasonable price, and now the objective was to make it home without falling asleep behind the wheel.
All and all, I did enjoy the food at The Swamp Room, but next time, I'm going to be smart and order my food to-go so I can eat it at home, That was I can just crash on my couch as soon as I take the last bite.
But, when I just want to hang out and drink a few with some friends, yes, The Swamp Room is definetly an option.
