I'm sold! I'm on the New Orleans Breakers' bandwagon!
I know it's only the second week of the USFL's inaugural season, but after that performance by the New Orleans Breakers against the Tampa Bay Bandits, I believe it's safe to assume that New Orleans has one of the better teams in the league...if not the best.
Being that both the New Orleans and the Tampa Bay teams were going into the second week with a win, and they're intradivisional rivals, this match-up was given the handle "The Breaker Bay Brawl". However, with a final score of 34-3 New Orleans, it was more of a Bandits Beatdown!
Quarterback Kyle Sloter #10 showed tremendous leadership by not only leading his team into the redzone within 8 minutes of gameplay, but also breaking the seal and scoring the first touchdown of the game. #10 easily broke through a winded Tampa Bay defensive line. #SloterHouse
Sloter wasn't the only one that touched the endzone with scores being racked up by Running Back T.J. Logan Jr., both Wide Receivers Johnnie Dixon and Shawn Poindexter, and a successful 2pt conversion attempt secured by Wide Receiver 'Air' Jonathon Adams.
There were big plays by the New Orleans Breakers spread across the roster with both Cornerbacks Mike Stevens and Nevelle Clark picking off the Tampa Bay QB, and Jarey Elders recovering a Bandits fumble.
The Bandits got on the board with a field goal, but the Breakers defense didn't allow any of Tampa Bay's troops to step foot in the endzone.
The highlight of the game, however, had to be 'Air' J. Adams one-handed reception after a 3 and 10 snap from Sloter! After that play was when I officially hopped on the Breakers bandwagon.
This inaugural season for the New Orleans Breakers team looks promising and I'm down the ride the wave. I'll be ordering some Breakers merch soon. Of course, the goal is to have an undefeated season but I did notice some sloppy mistakes that lead to penalties that can put that streak in jeopardy.
I'm looking forward to see how my Breakers fair against the Birmingham Stallions next. Birmingham is also a division rival and also undefeated so there's already a lot at stake in just the third week of USFL football (mostly bragging rights and reputation). I'm predicting New Orleans goes over Birmingham, but I doubt it will be as dominant as their Tampa Bay game.
What I love best about the USFL is that it's currently a blank canvas. Each game sets a new tone as to how this league is perceived and how it sets itself apart from the others. Other than following my Breakers, I'm also excited to see this league grow and prosper right before my eyes...in 4K HD! #GeauxBlueWave - Coleman
