KFC has just released its new product, the Beyond Meat Chicken Nugget! It's a planet-based nugget that is meant to replicate the taste and texture of actual chicken-based chicken nuggets. But, just like the Impossible Whopper from Burger King, these new planted-based foods meant to taste like meat products leaves me with more questions than answers.

One of the things I question is the reasoning behind creating a plant-based food product to taste like a meat product. I understand that plant-based food are geared towards those who choose eat a vegan-style diet, but is it not the case that those who prefer a vegan-style diet hate the taste of meat? Or, even if they do enjoy the taste of meat, but prefer not to eat it for whatever reason, wouldn't the taste of simulated meat tempt them into eating actual meat?

I'm not here to judge anyone's dietary choices, especially when it comes to those choices are about person health. But, am I out-of-line for being a bit suspicious that the process used to make anything plant-based look, feel, and taste like anything meat-based has to involve some unnatural element? I would assume that if you don't want to consume meat into your body because you feel it's unhealthy, you also wouldn't want whatever it is that they used to change the taste and texture of plants inside your body as well.
I can admit that it may be a bit unfair to knock a product before I try it, but even when the Impossible Whopper was released, I vowed not to spend money on any plant-based product that cross-dresses as a meat product. I'm morally against "fooling" myself in that manner. One of the things you should keep in mind is that there's a reason people are scrambling to make plants taste like meat, but no on is in a rush to make meat taste like plants.
I have no problem with KFC or Burger King as a food joint. In fact, I may go to KFC after I publish this to get some extra crispy chicken. I'm just venting my skepticism concerning this new plant-based meat clone phase. But, if plant-based meat clone products is your deal, go try KFC's new Beyond Meat Chicken nuggets and let me know what you think.
