Neuty Pics! Bayou's Official Mascot
Meet Neuty the Nutria.
It was December of 2020 when Myra's son went duck hunting with a close friend. During the hunt, the friend's dog found a tiny baby nutria in the area. The dog retrieved the nutria and brought it to Myra's son and his friend, most likely thinking that it was a trophy prize from the hunt.
Myra's son offered to take the baby nutria home as they couldn't seem to find the nutria's family or parents. The nutria came to Myra on December 25, 2020, Christmas Day!
When Neuty first arrived, mama Myra had to syringe feed the nutria with kitten milk until he was able to use a mini bottle. Neuty was on the mini bottle for about 3 months and that's when Myra started to introduce fruits and veggies into his diet.
Neuty lives indoors mostly. He sleeps in the hallway bathroom on a bed that he makes for himself using towels, sticks, and other things he steals from around the house. Myra makes sure there are extra towels around just for that purpose, but she also has provided dog beds for Neuty just in case.
Neuty shares his home with 2 dogs. At times, he likes to steal the dogs' toys and run really fast to hide them. Neuty will also beg for treats along side his doggie siblings.
Neuty has not yet been trained to walk with a leash like the dogs, but on their walks, he doesn't stray too far from the family. Often times, on their walks, if Neuty strays too far away, something will scare him and he'll run back to safety.
When Neuty is not sleeping or stealing doggie toys, he loves to take dips in the pool. Myra has given Neuty his own little play area around the pool where he can't escape. His favorite pool activity is diving to the bottom of the deep end looking for stuff to steal.
Neuty is now the official mascot of Bayou 95.7!
You'll be seeing a lot of the lovable nutria in days to come.
