The morning after its release, Bayou 95.7's "Best Damn Morning Show" hosts Gonzo and Ashley O delved into the New Orleans Saints' 2024-25 schedule with college and pro football analyst, WWL Radio's Mike Detillier.

The Saints will kick off their regular season on Sunday, September 8 (noon CT) at home in the Caesars Superdome for the second consecutive year, hosting NFC South rivals Carolina Panthers. As noted by the Saints, "New Orleans has won its last five season openers." Detillier predicts the black and gold will continue this first game winning tradition, but what happens from there? "After that, you go on the road to play the Cowboys with Dak Prescott. And you play Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts, who has given this team a lot of problems in the past, not only as a passer but as a runner. Then you play at Atlanta with Kirk Cousins. And then, the next week you're on the road Monday night in Kansas City, against the best in the business with Pat Mahomes. Yikes." Can the Saints survive a bumpy start to the season?

While fans already knew which opponents New Orleans would face for its 9 games at home and 8 away before the schedule was announced at 7pm Wednesday evening, Detillier says one factor can make all the difference in the outlook for the season. "I'm a big believer [that] strength of schedule is all about the quarterbacks you play, and where you catch them. Last year you couldn't have asked for anything better. [They] really only played a couple of gunslinger quarterbacks in Jared Goff, Matt Stafford, and then Trevor Lawrence, but you really didn't catch the gunslingers. This year it's different." He notes another main difference: the Saints haven't had their own gunslinger since Drew Brees. Does Detillier think quarterback Derek Carr can lead the team to success this season, or is he expecting another quarterback to step up? Listen to the full interview for his assessment of the Saints' current quarterback situation, as well as his overall outlook for the 2024-25 season and what record he's predicting.
