Now that the Saints have arrived in California for final preseason preparations at UC Irvine, Bayou 95.7's "Best Damn Morning Show" host Ashley O discussed some of fans' questions with Saints Sideline Reporter, WWL Radio's Jeff Nowak. The biggest question after some significant changes and the team's showing at training camp: who is our quarterback? Between Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shough, and Jake Haener (and throw in UDFA Hunter Dekkers, who the team announced just yesterday they have re-signed), Nowak unpacks what we're all wondering: "Kellen Moore's the head coach now and it's tough to know exactly what he's gonna value in that kind of situation... That's been so much of camp, watching the quarterback with a microscope, trying to figure out - okay, is he making good decisions? Is he getting better? Is the rookie going to be the call, or are you going with the second year quarterback?" While this uncertainty is not completely uncharted territory for the team, it's not a question fans have had to ask in recent history. "You have to go back to like 2005 for when you had a real quarterback debate," Nowak points out - before Drew Brees, Jameis Winston, and Derek Carr.
Tuesday's release of the team's first unofficial depth chart didn't provide much clarity on the QB question, but Nowak told Ashley O who he believes will be starting Sunday in the Saints' matchup against the Chargers.
