Sidney Torres is back to trash, a new app for New Orleans, and political aspirations?

The first day of Bayou 95.7's "Best Damn Morning Show" was also the first day of IV Waste's new schedule for garbage pickup in Orleans Parish. In the show on Monday, April 1, Gonzo and Ashley O briefly mentioned the new days each neighborhood would see the big black trucks, and asked the question many New Orleanians have posed before: could Sidney Torres IV be our next mayor?

Apparently Sidney's team was listening to the new morning show, and a few days later, he joined the broadcast as the duo's first guest interview.

When asked Thursday morning about his return to the trash business, Torres told Gonzo and Ashley O, "The city contract that we took over last year, and then the new section, which now we have 90% of the city of New Orleans's waste and recycling... Our team is doing an incredible job. We're so excited that we're able to help keep the city clean, and we're going to continue to do community work and helping in the community and doing things and giving back with the money that we make off of this contract to help out and just make it a better place to live." While IV Waste is the driving force of his current focus on the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of New Orleans, he's got another project in the works as well: a new mobile app pertaining to road closures and construction throughout the city.

And that future title of Mayor? Sidney chuckled at the question and told the hosts that he "really seriously was going to run for mayor the last time," but decided not to submit his name for the ballot.

"Look - I'm not going to say never, because I love our city... As far as the mayor announcement goes, when I do decide, I will make the announcement on your show."

The Best Damn Morning Show broadcasts live each weekday morning from 6am-10am from Audacy New Orleans's Bayou 95.7 studio... except for the day Gonzo and Ashley O take Sidney up on his offer to do the show from one of those IV Waste big black trucks.
